Get ready for another rad weekend in Baler! The 4th annual Bujangin Surf Longboard (BSL) competition is just around the corner, hitting the waves on May 3rd and 4th. It's going to be two days packed with good vibes, community spirit, and some stylish longboarding.
Since launching in April 2022, BSL has been all about bringing people together through the love of longboarding. It's a super inclusive, family-friendly event that encourages surfers of all ages and skill levels to paddle out and have a blast. We're talking about everyone from groms in the kids' category to seasoned riders up to 55 years old in the Royal Rumble!
With Holy Week now behind us here in the Philippines, it definitively marked the graceful transition into the dry season. The days have grown warmer, and for us in the lineup, that typically means the waves have begun to mellow out. That past Good Friday, the ocean delivered what felt very much like a beautiful, final pulse – potentially the last session of significant size we'll be embracing here in Baler for a little while.
Alright, let's talk Baler. Yeah, you've probably heard it's where Philippine surfing kicked off, and that's legit history. But, real talk? It's way more than just a history lesson or a pin on the map for bragging rights.
We're talking about waves that are straight-up world-class. When the conditions are right, man, it's a whole different game out there. Case in point? Check out the video right here:
